Beginning October 1st, 2026, the Corinth Animal Shelter will take over handling of animals for Farmington. Mason Dean will no longer pick up animals.
Here is the process for at least the next year:
All calls for animal pickup must go through Farmington Town Hall, Affidavits must be signed for complaints about animals in order to move forward with pickup.
If there is an active immediate threat to a person's safety, 911 should be used to dispatch either the Farmington police or a county officer. Corinth Animal Shelter will respond once contacted by the town of Farmington or the county.
If an animal is at large and the owner is known: Go to Farmington Town Hall cite the animal's owner for violation, the person filing the complaint will fill out affidavit and appear in court to testify.
Animal welfare/cruelty/Neglect calls - In these cases Corinth Animal Shelter can be contacted directly, you do not have to go through Farmington Town Hall. The animal shelter will obtain the necessary complaint information and dispatch an animal control officer to conduct a welfare check.

'There is a stray dog running down my street' Refer to Farmington City Hall - Do Not dispatch
'There is an aggressive dog lose in my neighborhood Refer to Farmington City Hall - If there is immediate danger call 911!
My Neighbor leaves their dog outside without food or water CAAS takes the complaint and does a welfare check
There is a dog tied up that looks extremely thin CAAS takes the complaint and does welfare check
I think someone is abusing their animals CAAS takes the complaint and does a welfare check
I found a stray animal and want you to come get it Refer to Farmington City Hall
Normal business hours for CAAS Tuesday - Saturday 8am - 5pm During these hours, CAAS will respond to authorized animal pickup requests received from Farmington City Hall or the Farmington Police Department.

After hours response is for Emergencies Only
After-hours requests for animal pickup must be initiated by the Farmington Police Department and must involve an immediate threat to public safety or animal welfare. Routine animal pickup requests are not after-hour emergencies.
